University of Calgary historian of science Margaret (Maggie) Osler sadly passed away yesterday in a Calgary hospice. She had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early July and then shortly afterward suffered a serious stroke. Her new book on the Scientific Revolution, Reconfiguring the World: Nature, God and human understanding from the Middle Ages to Early Modern Europe, was just released by The Johns Hopkins University Press over the summer. Those who knew her will remember her as a very lively and generous soul in additional to being a formidable scholar. Without any question, she will be missed by her friends, colleagues and the wider history of science community.
